SUMMARY:TEST AEC 1
DESCRIPTION:What this course covers\nThe Approved Engine Course (AEC 1) is a five-day\, 30-hour course in Simon’s Town that teaches the fundamentals of marine diesel engines and the systems that keep them running\, and it’s the first step on the MCA yacht engineering route. It’s designed for crew with little or no engineering background who want to start working towards a yacht engineer role\, as well as deckhands and small yacht captains who want to be the person on board who can fix a problem when it matters. \nYou’ll learn how diesel engines work and are built\, then get hands-on with fuel systems\, air intake and turbocharging\, cooling and lubrication\, electrical systems\, gearboxes and shafts\, hull fittings\, MARPOL pollution rules\, safe working in machinery spaces and bottled LPG installations\, with practical assessment throughout and a one-hour written exam on the final day. \nOn completion you’ll receive the MCA-approved AEC 1 certificate\, which you need before any engineering sea time will count\, and the natural next step is AEC 2\, also run in Simon’s Town.
