SUMMARY:ECDIS
DESCRIPTION:What this course covers\nThe Electronic Chart Display and Information Systems (ECDIS) course is a five-day\, 40-hour course in Simon’s Town that teaches you to navigate safely on ECDIS and\, just as importantly\, to recognise when the system is showing you something wrong. It’s designed for Officers of the Watch moving up to Chief Mate or Master 500 and 3000gt\, and for any watchkeeper on a vessel that navigates primarily on ECDIS. \nYou’ll spend most of the week hands-on at the workstation\, setting safety depths and contours\, configuring alarms\, planning and monitoring routes\, managing chart updates\, and working through sensor errors and system failures. \nOn completion you’ll receive the internationally recognised generic ECDIS certificate\, delivered to IMO Model Course 1.27\, which keeps your officer progression on track.
