SUMMARY:OOW (Officer of the Watch) - PSCRB (Restricted)
DESCRIPTION:What this course covers\nThe Officer of the Watch (OOW) course is a 23-day programme made up of four MCA modules that cover the academic side of qualifying to stand a bridge watch on your own: Navigation\, Radar and ARPA\, General Ship Knowledge\, HELM (Operational) and PSCRB. It’s designed for experienced deckhands and ratings with qualifying sea service who are ready to move from crew into their first officer role\, and you can book the full block back to back or take the modules one at a time as your leave allows. \nYou’ll work through position fixing\, passage planning\, tides and pilotage\, radar and ARPA collision avoidance\, ship construction and stability\, bridge leadership and decision-making\, and the launching and handling of life-rafts and rescue boats. \nOn completion you’ll sit an external examination marked by the MCA towards your OOW Yachts 3000gt Certificate of Competency\, with the three core modules taught in Simon’s Town and PSCRB in Hout Bay.

SUMMARY:PSCRB Refresher
DESCRIPTION:What this course covers\nThe PSCRB Refresher is a one-day course in Hout Bay\, Cape Town\, that revalidates your Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats certificate. It’s for crew who already hold PSCRB and need to keep it current\, since it has to be refreshed every five years to stay valid for officer roles and safety duties on board. \nYou’ll launch\, handle and recover a life-raft and rescue boat with an instructor\, practise man overboard recovery\, and go over distress signals and how to take charge of survivors in the water\, with practical assessment through the day. \nOn completion you’ll receive a revalidated PSCRB certificate\, good for another five years\, so your safety tickets are in order for your next contract or CoC application.
