SUMMARY:Master of Yachts 200gt Unlimited
DESCRIPTION:What this course covers\nThe Master of Yachts 200gt Unlimited course is a five-day celestial navigation course in Hout Bay that teaches you to find your position at sea with a sextant\, tables and a bit of arithmetic\, with no reliance on GPS. It’s designed for skippers who already hold the Master of Yachts 200gt Limited and want to remove the 150-mile limit\, opening up ocean crossings\, yacht deliveries and blue water charter work. \nYou’ll learn to handle and correct a sextant\, take sun\, star and planet sights\, work sight reductions through to a plotted fix\, and plan great circle routes and full ocean passages around the weather\, finishing with an exam at the end of the week. \nOn completion you’ll be eligible for the MCA-approved Master of Yachts 200gt Unlimited Certificate of Competency\, letting you command commercial yachts up to 200 gross tons anywhere in the world\, and from there the path continues to Master 500gt/3000gt.

SUMMARY:Yacht Rating - Deckhand module
DESCRIPTION:What this course covers\nThe Yacht Rating (Course Completion Certificate) course is a five-day course in Hout Bay that covers the core deck skills every rating needs and gives you the fastest route to your MCA Yacht Rating. It’s designed for new and aspiring yacht crew\, with no previous experience or sea time required\, and it’s especially useful if you want to be fully certified before a season ends rather than waiting on task book sign-offs. \nYou’ll learn proper lookout and watchkeeping duties\, the location and use of safety equipment\, safe working practices aloft and over the side\, basic engine room watchkeeping\, ropework\, splicing\, mooring and anchoring\, and routine deck maintenance to yacht standard. \nOn completion you’ll receive a course completion certificate that cuts your required sea service from six months to two and removes the need for a task book\, so once you’ve logged two months on board you can apply to the MCA for your Yacht Rating.
