STCW Refresher

What this course covers

The MCA STCW Refresher is a two-day course in Hout Bay, Cape Town, for crew who already hold STCW Basic Safety Training and need to revalidate it. Your Personal Survival Techniques and Fire Prevention and Fire Fighting certificates have to be refreshed every five years to keep working on board, so it’s worth booking well before they run out.

You’ll get back in the pool to put on lifejackets and immersion suits, board and right a life-raft and practise survival techniques in the water, then move to the live burn facility to tackle real fires with extinguishers, hoses and breathing apparatus, with practical assessment throughout.

On completion you’ll receive revalidated PST and FPFF certificates, valid for another five years. Elementary First Aid and Personal Safety and Social Responsibilities don’t need refreshing, so these two are all you need to stay current.
