Yacht Rating – Standalone

What this course covers

The Yacht Rating (Course Completion Certificate) course is a five-day course in Hout Bay that covers the core deck skills every rating needs and gives you the fastest route to your MCA Yacht Rating. It’s designed for new and aspiring yacht crew, with no previous experience or sea time required, and it’s especially useful if you want to be fully certified before a season ends rather than waiting on task book sign-offs.

You’ll learn proper lookout and watchkeeping duties, the location and use of safety equipment, safe working practices aloft and over the side, basic engine room watchkeeping, ropework, splicing, mooring and anchoring, and routine deck maintenance to yacht standard.

On completion you’ll receive a course completion certificate that cuts your required sea service from six months to two and removes the need for a task book, so once you’ve logged two months on board you can apply to the MCA for your Yacht Rating.
